Don’t buy the book. The money would only support the white supremacist movement, but definitely listen to the audio book or as much of it as you can stomach.

It’s written by this racist named William Pierce and it tells the story of the American government enforcing some extreme gun laws which spark a huge race war. The “noble” white supremacist underground bands together to run around killing blacks and Jews and everybody else who isn’t white.

Like I said, don’t pay money for the book, but read or listen to it if you can. It’s a classic of the White Supremacist movement. Timothy Mcveigh is said to have been influenced by this book.

While it isn’t exactly “good writing” it does read like a laundry list of chemical ingredients and instructions for constructing makeshift explosives. Kind of like the anarchist’s cookbook.

The book was written in the 70’s, so its naturally going to be a little off, but geez. The level of distortion that this world view manifests is ridiculous.

According to some reports this happens whenever a democrat comes to office due to widespread fears that the democrat agenda includes curtailing gun ownership laws. The last time it happened was with Bill Clinton, but for some reason it feels different this time.

Could it be people are preparing themselves for the possibility of a violent outbreak? Who knows.

The recent police shooting in Pittsburgh involving a 23 year old Richard Poplawski is said to have happened because this guy was upset about losing his job last month and afraid Obama was going to take his gun rights away. Coincedentally this guy also had many postings on www.stormfront.org (my favorite place to read the rantings of white supremacists).

He’s way better than the white dude they’ve got impersonating Obama on Saturday Night Live right now. I mean, I give the SNL guy props for at least trying, but come on.

(After offering me a measily hundred dollars Ron went on to explain the concept of search engine optimization (the art of making a website rise on the google pages, which I already happen to know a bit about). I played along listening to his didactic tone, then steered the conversation towards broader more interesting themes. Ron and I ended up talking for over half an hour. Well, I mostly let Ron talk and he really opened up to me. I asked him questions and listened to his responses. I even used the “N” word a few times with an “er” on the end just to fit in. Ron mostly seemed melancholy about the prospects for the country in light of Obama’s recent election.)

“Where do you see the country 100 years from now?” I asked.
“Well, Josh. This country is headed downhill. I think 100 years from now the U.S. will be like Mexico, a third world country.”

“What do you think is gonna happen when Obama gets into office?” I asked my white supremacist caller.
“I don’t think anything is gonna change. People are getting all excited over nothing. He’ll still gonna be controlled by the same jewish powers that control all the presidents. I think he’s just gonna be a failure. Then 4 years later hopefully he can just move out. If we’re lucky.”

“What do you think the niggers are gonna do when he gets into office?” I asked, seeing the situation as objectively as I could and feeling brilliant with irony. “Do you think they’re just gonna go crazy?”
“No, Josh. They’re past that at this point. I just think nothing’s gonna change. We’re not gonna leave Iraq. The government is not going to stop being corrupt. Nothing’s going to change and in the end people are gonna see him for what he is.”

One of the most interesting points was how Ron deals with the media.

To me that sounds like a flawed strategy. Kinda like the ostrich with his head in the sand. Isn’t it better to know what your enemy is thinking and saying? Perhaps Ron hasn’t read any Sun Tzu. Then again Sun Tzu wasn’t exactly a white christian.

After making a few more points about how Obama isn’t actually a U.S. citizen and other such right-wing-email-forwarded-nonsense it was time for the two of us to say goodbye. Now some of you might expect me to have ended the conversation with “Ha ha! Stupid, racist! I’m black motherfucker!”, but nope. Not me. I just wished him a farewell, thanked him for calling and hung up the phone in a civilized fashion. The reward for that kind of outburst was far less than the silent reward of realizing the true irony of the situation. Actually I’m still laughing about it.

Now all day I’ve been hearing ridiculous remarks saying that this was an inappropriate gesture. People are saying it was disrespectful and all sorts of other stuff. All the newscasters make a point of mentioning that the queen already had an ipod she’s owned since 2005. As if to say the queen didn’t need Barack Obama to introduce her to the ipod. No, the photo album isn’t the point. We’re past the idea of a photo album being an innovative device. Well, most of us are. It’s what’s inside that makes it unique and special. The actual photo album is merely a vessel carrying the cherished data, which in this case would be photos. Ipods hold photos too. They also hold video footage and music. Think of it like a digital photo album and it might make more sense.
